Alabama National Guard Soldier Charged with Murder After Fatal Shooting at Fort Eisenhower

Fort Eisenhower, Georgia — A 25-year-old Army National Guard soldier from Abbeville, Alabama, is facing murder charges following a fatal shooting at a Fort Eisenhower residence over the weekend.

Authorities have identified the suspect as Natravien Landry, a member of the 1148th Transportation Company. According to U.S. Attorney Jill E. Steinberg, the incident took place last Saturday at the home of a woman with whom Landry shares a child.

Investigators allege that Landry assaulted and fatally shot a man at the residence before fleeing the scene. Approximately three hours later, Meriwether County deputies apprehended Landry during a traffic stop on Interstate 85, south of Atlanta. During the arrest, law enforcement officers recovered a 9 mm pistol believed to be linked to the shooting.

Following his arrest, Landry was transferred by the U.S. Marshals Service to the Lincoln County Jail. He remains in custody, awaiting further court proceedings. He is formally charged with one count of murder.

The case is under investigation by local and federal authorities, with additional details expected to emerge in court.
